The Need of Adaptability When Working on Product Development

Managing development of programs seem like a daunting, complicated work at times, especially considering the perpetual increase in complexity of work to be completed within short time frame. In such cases, the need of adaptability become necessary and part of work. I am at Andela week two boot camp, the week we are expected to deliver our product. Surely, when looked at the product required and the time provided, it seems that the work is impossible. That come from my perspective but it seemed that to deliver a demo on Friday on the product, then I need to adapt to the change. In this article below, I will analyze how I am taking into consideration to cope with the burden of work and adapt the environment.

First, I will consider the bigger picture and the price of completing the work. What do I really mean? One of the rewards received from Andela is a paid four year training. Have you ever heard of a college or company training someone without skills in a field and pay them? Also, Andela is a nice environment, where you will meet new friends and make a family. The training and making to Andela family is what I call bigger picture as the benefits worth the sacrifice. When I always feel bouncing back and forth between dropping the boot camp, and trying the best to deliver a product, i strike a balance between them by looking at the bigger picture and what it means of being a fellow.

Secondly, research, experiment, learn and ask support from team members contribute to adaptability. Sometimes, it is hard to work in groups especially when you meet people with different values, beliefs and behavior. Communication is one of the problem, and the only way to work in such team is to be adaptable and embrace the change. Through research, learning and experiment, we can be able to achieve the knowledge that can help develop the product. Asking questions becomes part of seeking clarification and making the group members engage. In that manner, someone becomes adaptable and in return able to develop a product within the provided time line.

Furthermore, staying relevant and seeing opportunity where other see failure is important. The product development is based on python and expected delivery time on Friday. It is worrying and seeing people seeing failure. Failure is one thing I have never accepted in my life. I never fail rather I make a slight progress. That is my rule and in this week product development I am seeing an opportunity of providing a progressive demo of my product coming Friday.
