Moving to a New City.. Can You Do It?

Moving cities can be exciting yet intimidating…

Moving to a new city sounds exciting, for a 20-something looking to start over. It’s a great opportunity to explore a new culture, live on your own and to climb up a cool career.

But is it actually all that?

Living in a new city also means moving out of your comfort space. It means entering unfamiliar surroundings. Leaving your social circle and having to make a new group of friends. Being away from your family and loved ones and living on your own. All these things can lead to being a little lonely and depressed. Finding a job in new country can also be challenging.

How to deal with this?

Take this opportunity to re-invent yourself. Change your look and change your routine. Take up a sport activity that you would not usually do. Start meditating and spend some time of the day with yourself. Look and feel like a new person. You are in a new place so it makes sense to feel like a new person too right?

Try and meet as many new people as possible. Whether it is a friend’s friend or someone you just met, strike a conversation.

Go to as many new places in the city as possible. Explore new neighborhoods. Join a class of something you always wanted to do. Visit a social event you found in a Facebook group. Get out there. Meet new like-minded people.

Don’t get demotivated. Keep improving your skills and abilities. Consider take an online course.. Keep moving, keep learning.
