An Open Letter

An open letter to the human with troubles,

Dear Comrade,

How are you today? Feeling any better? I hope so. Well, to be honest with you, you are not as alone in this journey, as you think you are. This, my friend, is a fact. There are people in this world who are in exact same conditions as you are and then there are some people who are in worse, but you all have one thing in common. You all have the basic human instinct set deep within, even in your DNA, which is, to “survive”. That is the answer to all the troubles that you have gotten into and you will ever get into. This survival tactic on which we all operate is something that we can’t control consciously. It is always in the back of our mind, running silently, helping us, guiding us to get out of a situation and prepare an apt response that will increase our chances to live.

But consider this too, as I said, you are not alone. So that means, there are other human beings who are striving for the same survival as you are. They are also on this planet. They also share the same resources and they also have the same urges to do better than others. This, my friend, is also one of the reasons, why, you get into troubles. It is not always a linear track where your action always results in the circumstances that you see yourself in. Your life, no matter how isolated, is connected with many others. The best analogy that I can think of to explain this is, that, your life is like a string in a spider’s web. Intertwined with many others. Some are in direct links, some run parallel to you, some are not connected directly but they do connect at a distance when we take a look at the bigger picture. This is why your condition is not only dependent upon your actions, I mean, your actions do influence most of it but there are other contributing factors that you can’t control.

So, what is the reason behind all this? How do you come out of it? And that is where the fun stuff happens. You don’t come out of it, you don’t influence all of it. You learn to handle a situation and then you handle the next. You learn to see those links. You learn to notice how other’s action influence you and you balance it out with your own decisions. You observe how your actions not only define your own path but also form a way for your bonds. You take a look outside of your direct connections and connect with the ones you never knew existed, but they were there, in the same web as you, a little far, but there. These new connections may come close or they may drift away. But that is all up to you. These are, after all, your decisions and your bonds and you will be the one facing them.

I will simply say this to you, my troubled friend, you will survive and you will live because these troubles are just puzzles that you will solve. Some may be easy and some will be very difficult, but I assure you, all of them have a solution. The solution may not always be simple, it is never direct, so do look for another angle and you will find it if you hang on to it. Don’t give up.

Enjoy these troubles, they are the ones that make your life worth living.
