Raccoon Creek bridge to close for repairs

Press release from Harrison Township

Beginning at midnight on March 29, the state Department of Transportation and their contractor, JPC, will be implementing the closure of the bridge on Main Street.

The closure will start at the intersection of North Main Street and Mill Road, and will extend to the south side prior to Naples at the Warehouse and the Old Mill. This means that no vehicle traffic will be able to travel on the bridge during a two- to three-week timeframe. However, passenger cars will be able to use Mill Road to get around the bridge construction during the initial demolition and rebuild phase.

During all phases of the construction, access to Naples, Old Mill, Fit to Dance and David & Sons 322 Barbeque will be accessible. Businesses along Main Street will also be open and accessible.

The primary portion of demolition and installation is estimated to take two to three weeks, dependent on weather. The additional work to complete the project is not expected to require full street closures, although short-term lane closures may be necessary. Please plan on some delays during peak travel times.

Large box trucks, tractor-trailers and buses will be detoured. These larger vehicles traveling from North Main to South will be required to take the RT 322 Bypass to Clems Run, make a right onto RT 322 to the traffic light at the firehouse and make a left turn to continue southbound. The reverse will be utilized for large box trucks, tractor-trailers and buses traveling from South Main to north.

The state and county’s traffic engineers, and the Harrison Township Police have jointly developed these detours to ensure safe traffic patterns during this project.
